Services

  • Johnston Construction has been providing quotations to RTL for several bridge and pilling projects in the NWT since 2009. In 2010, Johnston Construction subcontracted to RTL for the construction of 3 bridges on NWT Hwy 5. Their scope f work included driving piles for the bridge abutments, installing pile caps, bin walls, precast concrete decking and bridge rails. Their work was carried out in a very professional manner, on schedule and to specifications. RTLS would recommend Johnston Construction for pilling and bridge work and RTL would have no hesitation using them on future projects.

  • Johnston Construction was subcontracted for a girder delivery project located south of Prince Albert Saskatchewan in September 2013. The project required Johnston Construction to work with WSP Canada Inc. to develop a method of unloading and securely storing girders for a bridge over the South Saskatchewan River. The scope of this project included working with WSP on details to adequately brace and secure the girders for long term storage, direct site preparation to store the girders, develop a lifting procedure and performing the work to unload and store the girders on site. This project was very difficult, due to the size of the girders which were 3.2 m tall and varied in length from 37.4 m to 48.6 m. Adding to the difficulty of the project was the limited area on site to store the girders and setup the cranes required to perform the work. The most challenging aspect was the uncertain delivery schedule of the girders due to weather and road conditions which caused delays in the deliveries. Johnston Construction excelled at overcoming all of the challenges and worked to minimize costs to the client and delays. Given the high quality of the work performed under less than ideal conditions WSP would recommend Johnston Construction for future bridge construction work.
