The work involved the installation of the structural steel for the Wentzel Bridge. We did the girder erection and bridge launch for the Wentzel Highway Bridge in Northern Alberta. The structural steel was installed by launching the assembled superstructure from one abutment to the other. This innovative method of installing the steel allowed the erection costs to be kept to a minimum while still maintaining the required schedule and ensuring quality and safety. The bridge launch was designed by Johnston Construction’s Engineers who worked closely with the project stakeholders to ensure that the modifications to the structural steel did not negatively impact the final product in any way.
