The project scope was to remove and replace an existing Forest Service bridge that had a failing substructure. The old bridge and the foundations were removed and a new substructure and creek bank armoring was installed. A new non-composite steel and concrete bridge superstructure was then installed. Johnston Construction proactively worked with the various stakeholders and road users to keep the road open while the work was being undertaken. Though it was not a requirement of the contract it was identified as an issue for the companies working behind the bridge from a worker safety perspectiv. A cooperative approach was taken to ensure that the needs of the various parties were addressed.
